Can you even believe that the Fourth of July is already this week?? This summer has been FLYING by. My busy time at work just finished up, so I’m hoping to take some time off soon to relax and recharge. We may even hit up the beach this week for the first time this summer! Ok, enough of that, today I want to show you my simple Fourth of July decorations that I put up a couple weeks ago. Now, I don’t usually go all-out for this holiday, but a few simple pieces can make such a big difference! Let’s get started with our home’s exterior.

Everything that I decorate the outside of the house is from the Dollar Tree. Like seriously, everything. My philosophy is that because I live in Michigan, outside decor takes quite the beating. Why spend a lot of money on something that is likely to get ruined? However, if you can’t get to Dollar Tree in the next couple days, here’s a super cute American Garden Flag from Amazon. Prime y’all!
You may remember when I did a simple DIY on this grapevine wreath. The secret is that I reuse this wreath every season, but just switch up the decor with Dollar Tree finds. Add a bow, a couple faux flowers, and it’s the perfect wreath for this time of year!
Those cute little patriotic buntings? You guessed it – Dollar Tree! If anyone has connections at the good old D.T., hook a sister up with a sponsorship 😉 We also have close ties to the local fire department, and this is a wonderful time of year to support them as well as our military. Did anyone so far notice all of the weeds in the last few photos? Before you scroll back up to check, let’s move inside to see what I added into our living room!
I seriously have so much fun styling these shelves. For this season, I wanted to keep it bright, and yet grounded with the black accents. I chose one of our engagement pictures to display because it has a large space of vivid red, which coordinates with the American flag.
My mantle came together so much better than I was hoping for. I decided that these antique blue Ball Jars were the perfect accent to the red in the American flags. The one in the middle was one from my grandparents home, so it holds extra meaning. The other two I actually picked up at The Found Cottage in Hudsonville, Michigan.
I didn’t want to go over the top with mini American flags, but a few tastefully placed, I think they bring the space an extra pizzaz. And that cute garland was from the Dollar Tree also! My Dutch heritage just can’t pass up that price! Neither can my love of simplicity with these simple Fourth of July decorations.
Fresh flowers have been my go-to lately to make our home feel cozy. I’m always trying to make our home feel comfy, but that is so much easier in the winter. Am I right? Fresh flowers just add a welcoming feeling in my opinion. Pro tip: Trader Joe’s always has the best flowers for a great price!
So I’m curious, do you decorate for the Fourth of July? I know it isn’t a hard-hitter like Christmas or Easter, but I wouldn’t pass up an opportunity to switch things up. Especially knowing that all I need are simple Fourth of July decorations to make a big difference! Thanks for stopping by and be sure to enjoy time with your families this week!
