Last week on a whim I decided that I wanted to paint our fireplace mantle a more dramatic color. I polled my buddies over on Instagram stories and y’all agreed that a change was more than welcome! Let’s start with my inspiration picture that I found over on Pinterest. I really wanted to do this fireplace makeover using just paint.
I really liked this blue/gray color. My parents did a similar color in their bathroom recently and it got me thinking… Plus, I think this color fits with the architecture and style of our home. Before I share the reveal, let’s take a look at the “before.”
Now don’t get me wrong, the “before” was fine. Back when I first started with this blog, I was all about neutrals and whites. However, my style is always evolving, I find myself craving more originality and even pops of boldness. Hence, painting our mantle on a whim! So let’s get to it…
It’s great, right?? One thing really fun about this paint is that it looks different in different lights. Sometimes it looks very blue and others it looks more gray. We ended up going with the same color my parents used in their bathroom. It is Poseidon Depths from Dutch Boy. It also looks great next to our dining room rug!
Lately we’ve been having an odd weather warm up in Michigan. Pair that with my nesting instincts and changes are bound to happen! This project wasn’t even on our list, but at this point our list seems to be out the window 🙂
So, what’s the verdict on our fireplace makeover using just paint? I’ll let you in on a little secret – we didn’t spend a dime on this project! My parents had tons of leftover paint from their bathroom and they graciously let us use it. My husband couldn’t say “no” to me when i told him the entire project would be free 😉
Later this week make sure you come back to see our nursery design plan! I’m so excited to share with you my vision for baby girl’s room. While you’re at it, make sure to sign up for my newsletter so you don’t miss a thing! Until next time!
