Happy Friday everyone! And, if you’re into that sort of thing, happy early Saint Patrick’s Day! I’m not really one to decorate for/celebrate St. Paddy’s Day, but my favorite color is green, so maybe I should!

The great thing about this time of year is that everyone starts to break out their spring decorations! That also mean that COLOR is coming back! Yes, I said it. In a world of neutral homes, even the most neutral folks are bringing greens and florals into their homes. If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I have a desk in my guest bedroom and it is literally the only part of the room that I photograph. This is because the rest of the room is a HOT MESS.
Not this space, though. This is one of my favorites furniture piece that I own. My dad built this piece for me back when I was in middle school. I had found a beautiful desk in a PBTeen magazine that looked very similar to this. Instead of spending top dollar on it, my dad just made me one!
These cubbies were what I liked on the PBTeen version, and my dad made it happen. These little spaces are so fun to style, but it also sometimes brings me a challenge, since they are so small. For spring I wanted to make sure to bring in some natural elements such as the florals and greenery. And by “natural,” I obviously mean faux 🙂
And yes, we absolutely did save all of those corks from bottles of wine we drank! On the far side is a cork board that is so convenient. I like to hang inspirational quotes or to-do lists. Right now, though, I’m loving these black metal envelopes (find similar ones here).
I made this super cute sign at my bachelorette party last summer. There is a local shop – Make Studio – where you can create signs with your friends while enjoying your favorite adult beverage. The owner made a to-go pack for my bachelorette party and we had a blast!
This is also the space that I do my makeup in the morning, so that mirror on top does double duty. Not only is it beautiful (my dad also made the frame), it is also easy to bring down and use while I’m getting ready in the morning. Cute decor can also be functional!
Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to hang out with me on the blog! I’m curious, would you be interested in getting a virtual tour of my favorite furniture that my dad has built? Let me know by either leaving a comment here or heading over to my Instagram to chat!
Such a gorgeous desk! And so special that your dad made it! to me that is better than any piece of furniture you can buy. Such a great space!
Thank you so much Cate! I do love the significance behind this piece 🙂
